Team of Bronx Latin students taking talents to national STEM competition

A team of bright students from Bronx Latin High School are headed to Washington D.C. to partake in the National Future City STEM Competition.
The team took home first place in their region at the 32nd annual Future City competition and their teacher, Tasbiha Chowdhury, says their environment helps them thrive.
“Classroom learning is OK, but things that you learn from doing projects is unmatched," said Chowdhury.
The challenge for this year was to build a fully electric city that keeps citizens and the environment out of harm’s way.
The Bronx Latin squad focused on making a model of Manhattan without cars and with separate residential and commercial areas. Ayden Meeks, Lia Dominguez and Saiquan Butts are now headed to show their project on the national stage.
“No matter where you come from or where you live, you can always do something great,” said Saiquan.
