A Commack Target store employee's quick thinking brightened the day for a mother and her autistic son last Sunday.

Angela Blanchet and her son Ben, of Kings Park, were about to use the self-checkout at the store, which is beloved by the boy. When he saw that the self-checkout lanes were not working, he began to scream and cry.

That's when a Target worker named Anthony allowed the boy to do his job by checking out customers at his cashier line.

Blanchet posted a story about their experience in Target on the Autism Speaks Facebook page Thursday. It's already been shared more than 900 times and received more than 6,000 likes.

Target isn't the only store opening its doors and its arms to Ben. IGA supermarket in Northport often allows the boy to help ring up customers.
