In a change of practice, lawyers for Martin Tankleff are making their client available for media interviews for the first time since a special prosecutor was named to look into his case.
Tankleff hasn?t spoken to the media much since his conviction for the 1988 murders of his parents was overturned in December, except for a few brief statements.
It is unclear whether Tankleff?s new accessibility is part of a legal or public relations strategy.
Tankleff is still waiting for all the charges against him to be dropped. Phone calls to Tankleff's Long Island attorney for comment were not returned. State prosecutors are expected to announce June 16 whether they will seek to retry Tankleff.
