Four men were arrested Wednesday for allegedly dressing as police officers and planning a robbery.
Police said they caught up with the suspects in Hicksville. Three of the men were taken to the precinct. A fourth was brought to the hospital for treatment after being bitten by a police dog, investigators said.
Jeanne Scott said she witnessed the arrests from her front door. Scott said an SUV crashed into her fence and other vehicles left tire tracks across the yard.
According to investigators, the suspects had several pairs of handcuffs, vests, weapons and other equipment with "police" labels. It was unclear how the men obtained the equipment, and whether it was authentic, police said.
Investigators did not reveal how they knew the suspects' plans.
