An elderly man out running an errand was killed by an alleged drunken driver Sunday night in Setauket.
Police say 82-year-old Thomas Cestaro was stopped at a red light behind an SUV at the intersection of Mark Tree Road and Route 347. While waiting for the light to turn green, Cestaro's maroon sedan was struck from behind by 53-year-old Michael Rowsell's SUV, police said. Rowsell, who police say never slowed down, is charged with driving while intoxicated.
Cestaro's daughter, Geri Napolitano, said her father will be missed dearly by his family and his wife of 54 years.
"A closer couple you will never find, very attentive to one another," Napolitano said.
The driver of the front SUV, Joseph Faby, 33, said his wife and 10-month-old child sustained minor injuries in the accident.
Rowsell did not receive any serious injuries.
