A suspected drug den is out of business after police raided the Dix Hills home. However, neighbors say the arrests aren?t enough.
Neighbors say the house on Carriage Court is a drug den, an illegal rooming house and eyesore all rolled into one. Residents fear for their children?s safety and made numerous complaints to police, which finally got results. Police arrested nine people in the raid Friday, including a Hicksville mother and her 16-year-old daughter.
While neighbors are pleased about the arrests, they fear it will only temporarily stop the activities at the house. Residents called on the Town of Huntington to help. A town spokesman says the homeowner will go on trial October 25 for several quality of life code violations, including operating an illegal rooming house. As a result of Friday's drug arrests, the town will issue a notice of repeat public nuisance on October 16. The town says if there's one more arrest at the home, it can start proceedings to seize the house.
