The Middle Island woman who was injured in a head-on crash that killed four people is reportedly on the road to recovery.
Newsday reports that the condition of Manisha Surwade has improved enough that she was transferred from Brookhaven Memorial Hospital to Stony Brook University Hospital.
She remains in critical condition, but a family friend told Newsday that she is "responding to the treatment."
Surwade and her 11-month-old son were the lone survivors of the Fourth of July crash in Middle Island. Her husband and his parents died when police say 25-year-old Gus Geyer lost control of his pickup and slammed into the family's car.
Geyer, of Ridge, was also killed.
A source told News 12 that Geyer's blood alcohol level was found to be twice the legal limit.
