Some health care workers on Long Island will be trading in their scrubs and white coats for football jerseys this Sunday.
Four hospital employees at Mount Sinai South Nassau in Oceanside have free tickets to Super Bowl LV.
Rockville Centre resident Larry Serazani, who works for the NFL, got the tickets for the hospital workers as thank you for the care he received when he had a heart attack and for their work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Adhi Sharma called the gesture “very touching.”
“How gracious he's been and how his appreciation – he’s showing it in such a tangible way," says the doctor.
The hospital workers at Mount Sinai South Nassau are just four of 7,500 health care professionals going to the big game. All of them will be vaccinated.
“We're allowed to attend and sit in close proximity because we've all been vaccinated and it gives this message of hope and safety," says Dr. Sharma.
Also attending will be Dr. Frank Coletta, respiratory therapy director Iris Halem and emergency room nurse Eileen Carolan.
A total of 22,000 people will be at the game, each wearing masks and social distancing. The stadium in Tampa Bay has a capacity for 75,000.
