SUNY Albany officials are threatening to close the campus following a recent spike in coronavirus cases.

SUNY Albany officials are threatening to close the campus following a recent spike in coronavirus cases.

A total of 31 new infections were reported within two days. A total of 49 cases have been reported since the start of the fall semester.

Administrators are investigating whether students are properly socially distancing.

The school has already suspended six students and another five students were removed from student housing. A group of other students are currently under investigation.

The university also temporarily suspended sports after a number of student athletes tested positive.

Albany police are now increasing off-campus patrols.

Other SUNY schools like Oneonta, Oswego and Fredonia also are dealing with a new influx of coronavirus cases.
