A toy drive at the Dix Hills Fire Department received thousands of gifts this season for Long Island families in need.
Families were able to pick out some toys for their children Saturday, and have volunteers wrap them at no cost.
The event was organized by 17-year-old Victoria Plumitallo, who started the Sunshine Toy Drive nine years ago.
"I started this when I was in fourth grade...one year on Christmas Day, I was wondering what kids who were in shelters and don't have as much as me, what do they get?" says Plumitallo.
Victoria is a high school senior and says she is going to continue the Sunshine Toy Drive for years to come.
