? A storm Monday afternoon brought rain, tornado warnings and quarter-sized hail in both Nassau and Suffolk, which had many Long Islanders taking cover.
Rain and hail hammered Great Neck causing massive flooding and an even larger cleanup effort. An oak tree sliced through a home on Ramsey Drive and destroyed three rooms. No one was injured.
Fire officials made their way through waist-high water to offer help unclogging street drains that filled with water from the rapidly-moving storm.
Due to the storm, flights going into John F. Kennedy International Airport faced three-hour delays. Planes arriving at LaGuardia Airport were delayed over two hours and those going into and out of Long Island MacArthur Airport also had delays.
The Long Island Power Authority says the storm caused more than 17,000 outages across Long Island.
A tornado watch was in effect during the storm for areas of Nassau and Suffolk.
