Suffolk police said Friday that they will soon release more photos of a belt recovered as part of the Gilgo Beach serial killer investigation.
In a press release, the department said the photos would be released "in the near future."
The department had released an initial image of the belt earlier this year, which appeared to be embossed with the letters "WH" or "HM." At the time, investigators said they believed the belt had been handled by the suspect and did not belong to a victim. They had urged anyone who recognized it to contact them.
The news comes just ahead of the 10-year anniversary of when human remains were first uncovered at Gilgo, later leading to more remains that police believe were dumped by a serial killer.
Police say the photos will be released via the department’s
Gilgonews.com website, which they say "was launched in January as a platform to update the public on developments related to the Gilgo Beach homicide investigation."
