Suffolk County officials are set to give an update today regarding changes to the Child Protective Services following the grand jury report investigating the case of 8-year-old Thomas Valva. As News 12 has reported, a grand jury did not recommend any charges against the Suffolk CPS workers who handled the Valva case. The 8-year-old died of hypothermia after being forced to sleep in a freezing garage in 2020. Because numerous CPS reports came back unfounded, the grand jury was limited in what information was available. At the time, Suffolk County Executive Ed Romaine said he planned on bringing new leadership to CPS.
