A Suffolk legislator says precision policing is vital in fighting the recent wave of gun violence happening throughout the county.
Legislator Jason Richberg represents North Amityville, where a 21-year-old man was shot while driving on Geraldine Avenue Friday morning.
The incident was the eighth shooting in Suffolk over the last 11 days.
Other affected communities include Wyandanch, Huntington Station and Mastic.
Richberg said the shootings are not connected to one another. He said the best solution is for police to go after the small number of people who commit these crimes.
"It's about identifying shooters and their peripheral and identifying what they are doing, what were the actions around, what led to the shootings, and then identifying them," Richberg said.
