Local fire departments tried out some new technology on Saturday that could become handy when battling future fires.
Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services hosted a "Drone Rodeo" at the Suffolk County Fire Academy.
Their goal is to create one large task force that uses drones to show firefighters their surroundings when battling fires.
"There's so many people out there with drones and we just want to make sure we're all on the same page when it comes to responding to incidents and doing things the same way," said Suffolk County Fire Rescue and Emergency Services Commissioner Patrick Beckley.
He says drone training events like the on Saturday will be happening more often.
