The sheriff's office says it launched the probe following a "questionable incident" that was brought to its attention last week.
It says it does not tolerate unfair treatment among staff or recruits. The office did not elaborate further, citing the active investigation.
Michael Catuosco had been with the sheriff's office since 2019.
