It’s been more than 24 hours since the Blizzard of ’22 dropped nearly 2 feet of snow in some areas of Long Island.
Residents in Levittown woke up to their streets still covered in snow. Dave Torres says the condition of the streets are “really bad”.
“With the taxes we pay on Long Island, this should be cleaned,” says Torres.
Patrick McGreth told News 12 that it “doesn’t look like they even did it at all.”
In Bellport, one resident told News 12 he got stuck on his own block while on his way home.
“I got stuck five houses away,” explains Lou Scordamaglia. “It took me an hour and 45 minutes [to get home] and then I got stuck in the driveway.”
Residents spent the better part of Sunday trying to clean their driveways and sidewalks. Some were grateful for the help from friends, family and neighbors.
“If you don’t have help from friends and family, you have a long day ahead of you,” says Carl Baker.
While some are doing the hard work alone, two teenagers with their ATV saw an opportunity. Jacob Repper says clearing the snow helps everyone out.
“Bellport being a tight knit community, it’s great for us to be helping people out,” says Repper.
