Supporters gathered Sunday as Suffolk County Executive Steve Levy was sworn in for a second term at Brentwood's Suffolk Community College.
In four years, the Holbrook native went from legislator to the first Democrat to hold the top seat in 12 years. Five political parties endorsed Levy for re-election.
He outlined the next four years of his tenure. "Build the needed housing, but try as much as possible to do it on land already developed," Levy said. "Preserving the local nature of our schools while consolidating their common functions and services. Keep expanding our roads, while at the same time, expanding our open space preserves."Levy also promised to avoid having a bloated county budget to keep taxes low.
"The Long Island we leave our children should be better than the one we inherited," the county executive said.
