Study: Pfizer, Moderna vaccines may also fight infections, not just symptoms
News 12 Long Island has learned that the
approved COVID-19 vaccines may also fight infections.
A team at the Mayo Clinic says the Moderna and
Pfizer coronavirus vaccines are effective in preventing infection about a month
after receiving the first dose.
The study looked at more than 31,000 people who
received at least one dose.
The team concluded the vaccines could prevent
not only symptomatic disease, but also overall infection.
