New York was ranked as the worst state for retirees, according to a study by Bankrate.com.

The study considered statistics on weather, cost of living, crime rate, heath care quality, tax burden and well-being. According to Bankrate, New York has the highest tax rates in the country and has the fourth highest cost of living.

David Leary, a retired Air Force veteran, says he's considering leaving Long Island and heading south where living expenses are a lot lower.

"I'm on a limited budget. This is a bad place to be on a limited budget," Leary told News 12.
