Researchers looked at 800 professional athletes who tested positive for the virus.
Less than 1% of them developed cardiac injury, compared to 7% of the overall population.
Researchers studied athletes who were mostly men averaging about 25 years old.
The study was published in the Jama Cardiology Journal.
