Study: Excessive drinking during pandemic leads to increase in liver transplants

A new study shows heavy drinking during the pandemic has lead to a spike in liver transplants.
The study was published in Jama Network Open.
Researchers found the number of people who got a liver transplant, or were waiting for one, was 50% higher than what was forecasted.
That forecast was based on pre-pandemic trends.
