Strong wind and heavy rain today could mean coastal flooding, downed trees and downed power lines.
News 12 Long Island's Caroline Flynn was in Thunderbolt 12 earlier checking out the conditions around Long Island.
As of 11 a.m., Flynn was driving through Bellmore where rain had picked up and left puddles in the streets. Winds also blew leaves off of tree branches. She said visibility was worsening on the roads.
Destructive wind gusts of 50+ mph could bring possible downed trees and power lines.
In a statement, PSEG Long Island's vice president of Transmission and Distribution Operations says, "We have been closely monitoring this weather system and are ready with a full complement of personnel to respond safely and as quickly as possible to any service interruptions."

The Long Island Rail Road says it has personnel and equipment pre-positioned to address weather-related issues.
People are also being warned to put away garbage cans and any Christmas decorations on their lawns, as wind gusts could be strong enough to blow them over.
Residents in areas prone to flooding on the South Shore are especially bracing for what the storm could bring.
