A 3-year-old girl who was the subject of an Amber Alert was found safe Friday morning, and her mother has been charged in the shooting of the girl's father.
According to police, Patchita Tennant, 42, who also goes by the name Patricia, took off with her daughter Vanessa Thursday night after shooting the girl's father during a domestic dispute on Pleasure Drive in Flanders.
An Amber Alert was issued at around 7:30 a.m.
At around 9 a.m., a relative called police and told them the little girl was at her house. Lt. Susan Ralph, of the Southampton Police Department, says the child had been dropped off there.
“We got the notification from the family member because she saw the Amber Alert,” says Ralph. “Police went over to confirm that it was the child and she is currently safe.”
The girl’s father suffered non-life-threatening injuries in the shooting.
Tennant is charged with assault and criminal use of a firearm. She will be arraigned Saturday in Southampton court.
