The Long Island Rail Road's on-time performance has been dipping for the past five months and is the worst it's been in 19 years, according to the agency's statistics.

LIRR officials cite poor weather, especially in November, as a key reason for the delays. That includes wet leaves on tracks and a Nov. 15 snowstorm that caused trains to move slower and be pulled out of service for repairs.

Some MTA Board members say they're tired of excuses and blame most of the problems on poor management.

Still, the LIRR says it has seen an increase in ridership. Commuters on the Huntington line often complain of overcrowded trains and passengers having to stand.

The MTA has proposed a 4 percent fare hike, which is expected to be voted on in January. If approved, it could go into effect in March 2019.
