After a dry and sunny break, the wet and wintry weather will make a comeback on Thursday. Due to some colder, borderline freezing temperatures in Litchfield County, there is a wintry mix threat going into early Friday.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Litchfield County starting tonight through noon on Friday. There is a risk of some minor snow and sleet, but ice could be the bigger issue. We could see one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch of ice.
Expect slippery conditions on untreated and especially elevated surfaces.
Most of Fairfield County will see plain rain fall as temperatures start above freezing and rise into the lower 40s during the day. There may be a few pockets of freezing rain, where temperatures are closer to freezing at the onset. Winds will pick up out of the northeast by evening and gust up to 25 mph.
Up to 1 inch of rain will fall before it wraps up Friday morning. Temperatures will warm up much more over the weekend, highs will climb into the 50s and even near 60 degrees.
