News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says rain and strong winds are on the way for the weekend.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Tracking Tropical Storm Ophelia: Tropical Storm Ophelia will track north into North Carolina on Saturday, weakening across the Mid Atlantic states this weekend. Meanwhile an associated warm front will approach the region tonight and stall south of the area this weekend. This system will bring a chilly, windswept and soaking rain, minor coastal flooding, beach erosion/flooding and dangerous rip currents to the area this weekend.
  • Coastal Flood Advisory: For Southern Nassau County tomorrow afternoon. Brief minor flooding is possible in vulnerable areas at high tide.
  • High Surf Advisory: Waves 6 to 10 ft with beach erosion and dangerous rip currents.
