News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says rain and strong winds are on the way for the weekend.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Tracking Tropical Storm Ophelia: Tropical Storm Ophelia will track north into North Carolina on Saturday, weakening across the Mid Atlantic states this weekend. Meanwhile an associated warm front will approach the region tonight and stall south of the area this weekend. This system will bring a chilly, windswept and soaking rain, minor coastal flooding, beach erosion/flooding and dangerous rip currents to the area this weekend.
  • Coastal Flood Advisory: For Southern Nassau County tomorrow afternoon. Brief minor flooding is possible in vulnerable areas at high tide.
  • High Surf Advisory: Waves 6 to 10 ft with beach erosion and dangerous rip currents.

OVERNIGHT: Cloudy and breezy with showers developing by morning. Lows near 58. East northeast winds 10 to 20 mph. Sunrise: 6:41
SATURDAY: Fall begins at 2:50 AM. Cloudy and windy with periods of rain, especially during the morning and early afternoon. Chilly with highs near 63. East northeast wind 20 to 40 mph. Sunset: 6:48
SATURDAY NIGHT: Cloudy and windy with scattered showers. Lows near 60. Breezy with northeast winds 10 to 20 mph.
SUNDAY: Cloudy and breezy at times with rain showers likely. Highs near 66. Lows near 60.
MONDAY: Mostly cloudy and cool with a good chance for scattered showers. Highs near 68. Lows near 57.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny with highs near 68. Lows near 54.
WEDNESDAY: Mostly sunny and nice. Cool with highs near 67. Lows near 55.
