Students lined up on campus and Wolfie paved the way for the flag procession at the 36th annual Hispanic Heritage celebration at Stony Brook University.
Participants and passersby experienced music from the band, cultural dancing, delicious eats and words of motivation from their keynote speaker, Assemblyman Phil Ramos.
Students on campus expressed to News 12 the importance of being educated on culture and embracing new experiences to remain open minded.
Other Hispanic Heritage events to follow include a “Selena-bration” on Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Student Activities Center, honoring the life of Selena with showcasing her film and doing crafts.
“Yo Soy un Seawolf” homecoming social will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25 in the UNITI Cultural Center.
