An absentee landlord accused of converting a home into a rooming house for Stony Brook University students has been found guilty of violating multiple town codes.

Steven Paul Graziano, owner of a home on Christian Avenue, was accused of violating various town codes, including missing permits, non-conforming kitchens and a lack of a rental registration.

Graziano was found guilty of 15 of the 44 charges against him.

Town attorney Paul Moran says the ruling will allow the town to bring the home back in compliance with the code,

The president of a coalition that represents the landlords says this isn't about any town code for the local residents. He says it's about going after property owners and the students they service.

Sentencing is scheduled to take place next week.
