An SUV crashed into a home in Patchogue after a police chase Tuesday night.Police say they received an anonymous call about a possible drunken driver on Woodside Avenue in Medford. According to police, an officer saw the SUV and realized it was stolen after running the plate.Officials say the driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Frank Dawson, of Middle Island, took off when an officer tried to pull him over. Police say Dawson then jumped out of the SUV, which slammed into a house on Clark Street. No one at the home was injured. Chris Carapazza says he considers himself very lucky since he was on the couch watching the Yankees game and had just gone up to bed. The crash did, however, send that couch soaring more than 15 feet into the air.
"He must've been going at a substantial rate of speed ?cause it did jump the curb, out of the street, up on the lawn, through the front wall of the house,? Detective Lt. Edward Reilly, of the Suffolk County Police Department, says.
Dawson is facing several charges including driving while intoxicated and fleeing from a police officer.
