The state's plan to create new license plates has now been scrapped.

Gov. Andrews Cuomo's office has confirmed the proposal isn't moving forward.

A spokesman says the governor will instead work on a new proposal with lawmakers.

Cuomo was pushing new plates for safety and tolling reasons.

Many objected to the idea, which included a $25 fee for the new plates.
