State says there's no indication Oakdale oil spill leaked into Great South Bay

About 140 gallons of heating oil leaked at a home nearby on Lincoln Drive on Monday which then spread to Byron Lake.

The state said Saturday that there was no indication that an oil spill in Oakdale leaked into the Great South Bay.

It said crews placed oil absorbing pads in storm drains to contain the oil spill.

About 140 gallons of heating oil leaked at a home nearby on Lincoln Drive on Monday which then spread to Byron Lake.

The Department of Conservation said it is removing contaminated soil and cleaning the groundwater at the site.

It said the cleanup would continue into Sunday.

Islip hazmat will also assist in the cleanup.
