A Stamford police officer currently on leave following domestic violence charges is accused of bringing a magazine with live ammunition to Tweed-New Haven Airport, police say.
The magazine was found in Gregory Zach's bag on Aug. 24 as it was being scanned.
Police say they did not find a firearm in the bag.
Zach said he was using an old bookbag and did not realize the magazine was inside.
Police say while Tweed officials did not pursue an arrest, Zach has a protective order which prohibits him from possessing ammunition.
Zach was arrested at the airport and charged with criminal violation of a protective order.
