A Bay Shore man has been convicted of sexually abusing his 8-year-old daughter, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney.

Authorities say the unnamed 33-year-old abused the child for approximately a year while she visited him every other weekend.

Prosecutors say the man threatened to beat her if she told anyone.

However, the girl ultimately disclosed the abuse to her mother after she noticed her becoming anxious about visiting the father.

The man faces up to 25 years in jail.
