The SPCA says the cats were living in filthy and dangerous conditions
inside the home.
Many of the cats are in need of medical attention, and the SPCA
is asking for donations.
The Town of Hempstead Animal Control is still trapping the cats. As of
today, they say 73 have been caught.
Augie Santos can't believe that animal control was still pulling cats from the home.
"My God, all those cats," says Santos. "You can't take care of them. You don't even know where they are, the garage or basement -- that's what's happening."
The Nassau County SPCA say the cats are now at a town shelter and most have upper respiratory issues, as well as eye issues.
"We are hoping the rescue groups come to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter open house to try to find loving homes for the cats," says Maria Mora, of the Nassau SPCA.
Mora says the open house is on Saturday and starts at 11 a.m.
