South Setauket man accused of abusing 5-week-old son due in court

Prosecutors say Vincent Distasi has been accused of choking, smothering, slapping, shaking, throwing and punching the infant on multiple occasions.

A South Setauket father accused of assaulting and abusing his 5-week-old son is due in court Tuesday.

Prosecutors say Vincent Distasi has been accused of choking, smothering, slapping, shaking, throwing and punching the infant on multiple occasions.

Authorities say doctors examining the baby last month discovered that he had a brain bleed, along with rib and arm fractures.

Distasi has denied all charges.
