A Honduran man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for repeatedly sexually abusing his own daughter and stepdaughter, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Prosecutors say the 40-year-old began the series of offenses by showing his stepdaughter pornography when she was around 6 years old.
This escalated to sexual abuse shortly after the girl’s tenth birthday in Dec. 2020 and continued through July 2021.
The girl’s mother forced him out of the home in early 2022 after family members voiced concern about his behavior toward the victim.
According to prosecutors, he requested visits with his biological daughter three years later. The mother agreed, and he began to abuse the 10-year-old victim during those visits.
A family member found an entry inside the girl’s diary describing the abuse in July 2025. The family member informed the girl’s mother, who then contacted police.
The man was arrested on July 22, 2025. On Sept. 2026, a jury found him guilty of course of sexual conduct, sexual abuse and child endangerment.
Following his prison sentence, he will be subject to 20 years of post-release supervision. The United States Department of Homeland Security and Immigration and Customs Enforcement has also lodged a detainer to take custody of him afterwards.
