With the public safety officers on strike in Co-op City, some residents are worried the crime rate in the area will increase in the coming months.
The Patrolmen?s Benevolent Association (PBA), the union that represents the workers, went on strike last month when a contract agreement couldn?t be reached. Since the strike began, the New York City Police Department has been patrolling the area. However, some residents are worried the NYPD won?t monitor the area as closely during the summer months.
PBA workers say they are eager to negotiate a new contract and get back to work. However, there is no word on when the PBA strike will end.
