A Bellmore mother got a surprise Thursday when her soldier son came back home.
Denise Vicari was at La Guardia Airport with the Blue Star Mothers of America to welcome home a group of 20 soldiers arriving from Afghanistan. What she wasn't expecting was her son, Sgt. Frankie Vicari, would be part of the group. Vicari called her son's homecoming a "dream come true."
Frankie had been in Afghanistan for nine months and was not expected home until March. He also was not expecting his mother to be at the airport, thinking his friends were going to pick him up.
His father and the Blue Star Mothers kept his mother's appearance a secret to make the reunion extra special.
