At the Whole Foods store in Manhasset, shoppers were greeted with a display of spring gardening supplies juxtaposed against ice melt and firewood as a nor'easter dumped the worst of its snow on northwestern Nassau County Wednesday.
The storm started slowly and picked up, saving its worst for the evening commute.
It left roads and parking lots covered in snow. Crews were out in force trying to clear the streets, but many of them remained unplowed through the evening rush and beyond.
As News 12 has reported, authorities were warning people to avoid unnecessary travel.
Traffic remained slow well after the evening commute, even after snowfall tapered off.
