Four days later and there is still cleanup needed accross Long Island.
Pedestrian Yosef Shapiro, of Plainview, says it’s been a sloppy cleanup since the snowstorm four days ago, where corners of intersections are hard to navigate because of piled-up plowed snow, with some sidewalks remaining a slushy mess, including on North Newbridge Road in Hicksville.
“It's impossible to get anywhere. When I get off my bus, I have to walk in the middle of the intersection with the cars to get home," Shapiro said.
The Town of Oyster Bay says it’s the business owner’s responsibility to clear the sidewalks in front of their store.
News 12 alerted a manager of an “I Fix” store, who wasn’t aware and threw down some salt to melt the snow and slush.
Over in Rocky Point, Jonathan Carlino says the already narrow and hilly roads in his neighborhood were made worse by the snow.
He says because of the poorly plowed roads, the school bus couldn’t make it to the bus stop on Thursday morning, and a neighbor drove all the kids waiting for the bus to school.
“The kids have to stand in the road, which is a single lane road, I don’t trust the kids are safe," he said.
News 12 has heard that the Town of Brookhaven is cleaning that bus stop in Rocky Point.
The highway superintendent says cars parked in the street created a challenge for the plows.
