With the holiday shopping season in full swing, stores on Main Streets across Long Island are expected to get a boost in business Saturday.

Small Business Saturday, celebrated the Saturday after Thanksgiving each year, is a chance for shoppers to support local mom-and-pop shops.

The retail holiday is celebrated between Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Many customers told News 12 they enjoy taking a break from the big box stores to shop locally.

Many Main Street stores offered special deals to lure customers. Towne, a fashion-forward clothing store in Huntington, offered 20 percent off.

American Express started Small Business Saturday in 2010. The company offered a $10 statement credit to people who shop at local retailers.
