A man whose throat was slashed from behind during a robbery in Elmont is recovering Wednesday.
Nassau police say a 46-year-old man was walking from the Floral Park train station when someone sliced a six-inch long lateral cut across his throat. According to police, the victim bled profusely, but the robber fortunately missed a major artery and the man's wind pipe. They say the victim held his throat to slow the bleeding while calling 911 himself. Police report he is being treated at Winthrop University Hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
The robber made off with several credit cards and about $200 cash. A similar incident occurred last month just a few hundred feet away. Anyone with information regarding the attack is asked to contact Nassau Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS.
