A peace offering of doughnuts from the landlord of a Shirley group home was met with shouts, signs and disgust from protesters Sunday.
Neighbors near the William Floyd Parkway home say landlord Adrian Thomas has a criminal past that may include drug charges. They also complain about the saturation of sex offenders in their community. Suffolk County Legislator Kate Browning (Working Families Party-3rd Legislative District) says she plans to address the issue in a meeting Wednesday with the county executive.
Thomas counters the home provides a vital role in the community, ensuring people get their lives on track. Although Thomas admits he has some tickets to answer to, he won't say whether he faces drug charges.
