Shoreham-Wading
River High School will be closed to in-person learning for the next 10 days.
On the
district's website, officials said the high number of students and staff now in
quarantine has forced the school to switch to virtual learning until Nov. 11.
News 12 has been told there are 125 students and 11 staff
members under quarantine and three students have tested positive for COVID-19.
School officials say the three students that tested positive
all attended some sort of social gathering last weekend.
The superintendent told parents, “What students do over the weekend and
after school matters. As we have found out, it impacts our ability to
remain open daily for all students.”
Officials are
urging all parents of students who attended the gathering to get tested and
contact the school if they test positive.
All of the
other schools and buildings are open.
