Long Islanders flocked to grocery stores Wednesday to get last-minute ingredients needed for Thanksgiving.
While some were able to get what they needed for their holiday meals, others found it difficult at the stores they went to.
"There's not much stuff on the shelves," says Hicksville resident Sal Gul. "They're missing a lot of items, like basic stuff."
Gul also says he's noticed prices have gone up compared to previous years, which is something other also noticed.
Despite the prices and possibly missing a few items on their list, shoppers are happy to be spending Thanksgiving with loved ones again.
"Last year was COVID and there a lot of stuff going on," says Christianah Agunloye. "But this year is so much better."
According to the Department of Labor Statistics, costs are up by roughly 5.4% compared to this time in 2020.
