A Shirley man is lucky to be alive after four men kicked in his door and demanded drugs and cash Friday.
Police say the 58-year-old man was being beaten inside his Stratler Drive home when he told the robbers his wallet was by the front door. According to a neighbor, the man was able to escape out the door and run to her house. They called police from the neighbor?s house, and the victim was treated and released from the hospital.
The victim?s son says the attack was unprovoked and that his family has no illegal drugs. Investigators say the thieves made off with $400 in cash and are still on the loose.
