Service was fully restored on the Hempstead line around 3 a.m. after a car slammed through a fence and crashed onto the tracks at the Nassau Boulevard Long Island Rail Road station
last night.
The incident happened around 8 p.m.
Garden City police said no one was injured. Officials have not identified the driver or said how they ended up on the tracks.
The crash initially suspended service on the line as crews worked overnight to fix the significant damage, according to the MTA. Overnight repairs were made to both tracks, the third rail and staircases around the station.
Around 1:30 a.m. today, service on the Hempstead Branch was partially restored to one of two tracks before being fully cleared ahead of this morning's rush hour.
The MTA said it is not anticipating additional delays or service disruptions.
The investigation is still ongoing, Garden City police said.
