Sentencing was adjourned today for the man who burglarized and torched the East Patchogue home of a state trooper serving overseas.

Harry Fleischmann Jr. was convicted of breaking into State Trooper Eric Carver's home 13 months ago. Police say Fleischmann stole his off-duty handgun, a holster, ammunition and then used gas to set the house on fire.

Carver was serving in Africa with the Air National Guard at the time of the incident.

Carver's neighbors pitched in to raise money to help him fix the damage.
