There was an increased security presence for Black Friday shoppers in shopping malls across Long Island.
Security experts have warned that malls and shopping centers are "soft targets" for terrorists. After the Paris attacks two weeks ago, officials in both Suffolk and Nassau responded to reassure the public.
In addition to regular mall security, Nassau police say they will also have extra officers on patrol at malls and shopping centers through Sunday.
Suffolk police say they are using their K-9, emergency service and highway units to patrol crowded shopping areas during the holiday season.
Both Nassau and Suffolk police say there is no credible or specific threat and the extra patrols are a precaution.
